I have such a heavy heart this morning learning about Winter the Dolphin’s passing. I’m heartbroken for her trainers and the amazing care providers at Clearwater Marine Aquarium. They adored her, as did so many from around the world.
Winter will always hold a special place in our hearts. She inspired my young son as he was going through speech therapy. He set his goal, worked hard, and graduated in much less time than expected. His prize was a trip to meet Winter, the star of Dolphin Tale. Her courageous story of overcoming the impossible helped him stay focused and persistent. Clearwater Marine Aquarium became a place we visited often when we lived in Florida.
Winter leaves a legacy of perseverance and inspiration. She will always be a symbol of courage and hope to millions of people who have been touched by her remarkable story of recovery and rehabilitation.
